Fish continues to be fantastic on the East Cape. We continue to have a very strong Striped Marlin bit, with a few Sails and Blue Marlin in the mix as well. Many of the boats in the fleet have been going to the Tuna bite with lots of success. We are now seeing more and more bigger tuna coming in from 50# to well over 100# tuna have been coming in, but the majority are still coming in at under 20#. There have been some nice pargo and roosters throughout the week and unlike the tuna, you don’t have to go very far to catch them. In fact, we are catching them right where the boats are anchored. The dorado bite is steady as always, but we have seen an improvement in the size of the dorado coming to the dock. We are seeing much more 30lbs.+ dorado and hardly any smalls.
Saturday was the last day of fishing and the awards ceremony for the Fathers, Sons and Buddies tournament. There was lots of fun had by all as they put on a memorable awards ceremony. Top Angler went to Dave Koch, second place went to Patrick Christansen, and third place went to Joe Stemmler. Top Team went to Eric Johnston/ Andrew Grafius. Panga Shoot Out winners were Ron Carli/ Addison Mowforth. The Shoreline Derby winner was Curtis Longways. Biggest Dorado went to Addison Mowforth with 41.4lb. Biggest tuna went to John Magini with 87bls. Top Boat this year was the El Tio. "More important than all the fish caught was the new friendships and the relationship we have with a class resort & the support of the clothes drive from all the fishermen"
Thank you and congratulations to all of the participants of this year’s Fathers, Sons and Buddies Tournament.
