It was an up and down week on the East Cape, with the South winds making thing a little tough on anglers. As I write this report on Friday afternoon I can see that the winds offshore have once again kicked up which is make for some rough conditions. That being said we are still seeing some decent fishing. Yesterday we had a nice 50lbs. Dorado come to the dock, followed by a nice 43lb. dorado. The tuna have been tough to find with only a few landed this week and all under 30lbs. Stripe Marlin and Blue Marlin have been steady with a few boats experiencing multiple hookup each day. The roosters have been holding as well inshore with a few nice roosters being landed early in the week. The Fresh Catch landed another nice 50# Pargo right in front of the hotel, which makes two in as many weeks he landed right where the boats are anchored. Sometimes you don’t have to go very far at all.
This week we saw the Triple S Guide Service group come to hotel Palmas De Cortez and we had the Southern California Tuna Club over at Hotel Playa Del Sol. Lots of fun was had by all who enjoyed good fishing and great weather early in the week. The Triple S Guide Service group ran a small tournament amongst themselves and the winning team was Paul & Erin Brooks from Boulder Colorado, and Ken & Donna Brooks From Gresham Oregon. Congratulations to all who participated. The Tuna Club which was run by Frank Pratto this year brought 50 people of all ages. This is a fun time for Grandparents, Parents and Grandkids to spend some time together fishing and having fun. We want to thank the entire Southern California Tuna Club for their continued support each year.
The Keep’n It Reel Fish and Chips tournament is now in progress, so I will have an update next week. Fishing Tournament and Bikini Contest tonight, followed by the Poker Tournament tomorrow. That is all for this week amigos! Eddie Dalmau/Baja’s Van Wormer Resorts
